Brothers Geoff and Clayton Gwynne grew up burning their feet on the sand and chasing waves at Waipu Cove – the kind of place where the classic Northland way of life sinks in deep. Good mates, good food, good times. Once someone has a taste of that, it’s pretty hard to leave.

In 2003, the Gwynne family put down roots and purchased Waipu’s iconic Pizza Barn. From day one, Geoff and Clayton put their stamp on the place, hiring half the village and working right alongside the team in the kitchen and bar – something they still do today.

In 2014, they expanded their vision and launched McLeod’s Brewery, crafting beer inspired by the same Northland spirit they grew up with. The Pizza Barn and the brewery naturally came together to create McLeod’s Pizza Barn, bringing great food and great beer under one roof.

Today, McLeod’s Pizza Barn and Brewery remains a genuine, family-friendly, laid-back hotspot with hearty Kiwi favourites and a warm welcome for locals, holidaymakers, and anyone passing through.
